I have an i7 6700k and GTX 1070 and still get 10fps with silverrets koali beach. But yeah, Mac and Apple are such a rip off company. You can get a custom PC desktop with far better specs and it would be still cheaper. Macs products look cute which appeal to young people but their laptops offer severely limited upgrade options.
    My PC
    6th gen Intel Core i7-6700k (4.2Ghz, 4 cores, 8 threads), EVGA GTX 1070 SC (8GB GDDR5, 1885Mhz clock speed tested), 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz HyperX RAM, Corsair 300r windowed, Wi-Fi ac, Windows 10 Home, 1TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD (primary), 240GB Kingston Fury HyperX SSD.

The only good parts about iMacs are their screens. But is a monitor really worth 1000s of dollars?

Well, with all due respect, taste is subjective and I for one would rather spend the extra money to get a machine that looks as impressive as it performs.

But I don't want to get into an Apple fan boy debate.

The reason I ask is because, from what I've read the bottleneck in Planet Coaster seems to be the CPU more often than the GPU, and I was wondering whether the architecture of the iMac Pro lends itself to that, especially with all those cores?

The other thing I was curious about was the GPU architecture, which (from what I read a while back, so I may be getting this a bit wrong), is quite different from the architecture used in the latest Nvidia models. Was just wondering if anybody could put this in lehmans terms for me and how it might affect performance in game.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a link of the specific model you are looking for?

  5. #385
Can you tell us the full specs in detail or a link to the model you plan on getting? For example laptop manufacturers tend to only go for an i7 6700HQ or i7 6700 or i7 7700HQ or an i7 7700. All still have slower clock speeds than the 6700k and 7700k.

I paid NZ$3000 for my system which has the specs mentioned in my forum signature. As you may see I got a lot for the amount I paid.

The question that I have is how many guests do you have in the park and what game setting are you on when you are playing Koali Beach. The reason why I ask is, because the gaming PC that I am planning to buy is the I7-7700k with either a GTX 1070 or a GTX 1080 card.

The spec is on this page:

    https://www.apple.com/uk/imac-pro/specs/

I'd be going for the base model, so:

    8 core processor
    1 TB SSD HD
    32GB of 2666MHz DDR4 ECC memory
Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics processor with 8GB of HBM2 memory

BUT - I would be tempted to upgrade to the Radeon Pro Vega 64 graphics processor with 16GB of HBM2 memory - if there was a noticeable gain.

I'd be running it on Windows Bootcamp for gaming purposes.

    Gracias amigos

Hi @claire88. Sorry for the late reply, but have you purchased a computer yet? If so, this computer is excellent for playing Planet Coaster and I would recommend it to anyone.

Unfortunately due to the high level of detail this game offers and the complicated guest simulation, large parks have very low fps. This is something you cannot really do anything about and is just the nature of creative building games like Planet Coaster.

If you do not have a dedicated graphics card then unfortunately you are under minimum specifications, you can see our minimum specifications here: https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=292

Looking at your CPU you probably won't be able to run the game, as has been told in the other thread you made.
