For aesthetic reasons, it would be nice to have both working transfer tracks and also not having to empty the queue to change the number of coaster trains running. However, as a practical matter, there is no need at all for either of these. Using the transfer track would consume at least as much time as you lose closing the ride and emptying the queue, and in either case the ride isn't shut down long enough to make a real difference in your income. Besides, if you design the coaster correctly, the need to change the number of trains running should never arise. A coaster has a maximum number of trains it CAN run, which is based on track design, and a maximum is SHOULD run, which is based on the coaster's popularity. When building a coaster, you should always attempt to make these 2 numbers be equal. If you do this, then there's never any need to change the number of trains. A properly optimized track design will have a train entering the station only a few seconds after the train ahead of it leaves the station. This is what maximizes customer throughput. To do this, start by always using a station where you enter on 1 side and exit on the other side, and the exit gate should be centered on where the coaster stops in the station. Then set the station wait times to a minimum of 5 seconds and a maximum of 28 seconds, select "Full Load", and check the "Don't block station" checkbox. Having done this, you next have to decide on how many trains you'll have, usually 2...

That's what everybody says :). And it's never true. As to the time issue, you build the park bit-by-bit in weekly rounds, and each bit is never very big, so it's pretty easy to work into your schedule. As to talent level, you make better stuff than me, so I really should be trying to talk you out of entering ;). But even scrubs like me can be competitive. First off, it all comes down to the subjective tastes of the panel of judges, so even technically brilliant masterpieces by acknowledged gods can get stomped by less-brilliant things that look more like what the judges wanted to see that round. Second, the acknowledged gods know who they are and thus think they're only competing with the other acknowledged gods. As a result, they often over-think things, trying to out-do what they imagine the other gods are building, which often leads to them chasing their tails and either going far off the mark or repeatedly changing their minds and not completing the assignment. And finally, as Ecclesiastes says, "time and chance happeneth to them all". It's a long contest and life happens. Folks way ahead of you might suddenly get busy at work, go on vacation, or have some disaster happen which causes them to default on several rounds. Of course, that can happen to you, too (last year, my house flooded), but it's more likely to happen to somebody else. In any event, contests are definitely worth entering as a learning experience. Nothing improves your skills more than...

I have just started playing again for the first time since the studio update and it seems like the paths are completely broken. I know they added the tunneling checkbox but I cannot build a queue line without rage-quitting because of some random and completely invisible or unexplained "Obstruction" , even on perfectly flat land.. Most of the time tunneling and flattening land doesn't even help. What is going on?

The way the Collosal Order team communicates with the community on the forums, on the Modding program (yes they have one for steam creators!!) and the way they sponsor youtubers, is just what Frontier is lacking to do! And not just a community manager (Sorry Bo, Ed, and the new guy.) I really miss that sort of interaction to the PC community from the frontier team were we can tell them hey you should do it like this let us help. But, I think the team is still very focused on their own vision and not what the community needs.

No interest in waterparks. For an actual expansion by your definition I'd pay close to the full game price IF it had enough content to justify it. That's the problem, how much I'd be happy to pay depends on what is included. An expansion with lots of goodies, engine improvements that also includes MOD tools, absolutely.

Yes but, if Frontier continues to release only small DLCs, after a while it will get annoying and disappointing to not see bigger stuff. I also feel bad for new players who just bought the game, only to realize that they are being blasted with ads to buy more DLC before they have even gotten a chance to feel out the game yet... thats why I hate DLCs 2-3 DLCs is fine but PlanCo already has what, 7 of them and counting? And the price of them all combined is equal to the price of the full base game or more? That just seems odd when the DLC is mostly just building pieces lol When I bought RCT3, its 2 expansions were like $20 each and the main game was like $50 i think (if I remember correctly, from 12+ years ago) and I was blown away by how much more content each expansion added! I rarely buy games when they are still new, I used to always wait for games to hit the bargain bin unless its a multiplayer game, but todays digital downloads changed that I wish they would put out a "complete edition" in stores it would be better for gifting

Personally I don't mind smaller DLC's but I do prefer full-fetched expansion packs.

I’m making a few mods to my copy of the park, I’m adding the Rhine River Cruise using the tracked boat ride from the adventure pack, I got rid of the dam and connected the two parts together and made the water the same height. Apparently you can’t have sloping water in PC. Also I will move the gardens area of Italy over to the area with trees in order to fit Festa Italia in, Roman Rapids, train station, Apollo’s Chariot, etc. And maybe make the railroad crossings with path by Tweedside and New France.

if all the current DLC was bundled together into one pack for $20, I bet it would sell a lot more, but I would not consider it an "expansions". It just seems like doing it by piecemeal. I don't buy games like I'm at a resturaunt, its not like "Oh I'll take one of those and some of that and a little bit here"... its like no, I want it all in one lump sum. Its a video game, not a collection of lego kits... thats why I refuse to buy the current DLCs, cuz I'm patient and I know someday mod support will make these silly microDLCs unnecessary When I spend money on a game, I ask myself: What is the lifespan of this specific game? and the lifespan of RCT3 was huge... but will PlanCo be without competition as long as RCT3 was? I doubt it.

Possibly, although I'd rather see fixes to the things that are already in the game than new free features. Agreed, good point. However, I was more talking about just the amount of content we got in the updates (including DLCs) and wether it would be enough for an expansion.

Who are you mocking, the community or the dev team? personally I think this is proof that the devs have made mistakes its clearly a lack of communication from the devs, which is messed up considering this is a community driven game

do you think the devs will continue releasing free updates of that scale? Maybe a little bit, but I doubt the game gets much more in terms of free updates (outside of small things) to me IMO they were still finishing up the basic features which should have been in the game anyway, not really the same thing. When I say expansion, I mean like RCT3 soaked and not basic necessities ;) Remember lots of people paid well over $75 for this game, and thats not including DLC... I've paid a lot less for games that were more exciting to me... for charging extra on alpha, it raised my expectations for later add-ons but unfortunately as I expected, DLC has taken the life of another game and turned into a game of milking the cow, thats why the devs focus on their core audience of youtubers rather than their larger casual audience

Frontier did offer some quite substantial free updates next to the 3 DLC packs. Those features, combined with the DLC packs could be considered as an expansion. Although the free features did not offer the kind of depth many were anticipating.

Because with a $10 DLC you have people saying things like "eh its only $10" but with a $30 DLC people actually put more thought into what they are buying. Also, the smaller DLCs focus primarily on building pieces, scenery etc. Chances are if we want to see more stuff added into the game its going to have to be a large expansion pack because were not going to see no $10 water park DLC Personally, I'm almost 99% certain the devs are working on a water park add-on and they are just being very hush hush for whatever reason. However, IMO it concerns me that they havent announced anything official yet *sigh* Two things that are known for certain: more work is being done for future mod support, and a Planet Safari is on the "next up" list Also, a lot of people refuse to buy DLC (such as myself) and so I think the devs would sell more if they released something more popular

People asked for better management, not just more mangement, something both staff rooms and hotels did not really offer. You should know that, Bitter.

What makes people think they would get more in an expansion pack for $30, than three $10 DLC's?

see here: LMAO this was not the question at hand... the devs have stated false things in the past, just because they have not announced an expansion doesn't mean they are not working on it secretively... it certainly seems like a majority consensus that expansions would be better Whats with the presumptuous attitude towards something you have no idea about?? What if they surprise us with a huge expansion that is awesome, and you already have chosen to be against it?? what is that about the expansions of RCT3 were obviously far better received then the PlanCo DLCs

I like to use the staff room and the hotels in my games. I just am sad to see that there's not many scenarios (career) using them, in particular of hotels!

Content on par with rct1-3 expansions then around 30 yea. Or even more. It is all about the content. if there's much gameplay update then yes.

Given the base game retailed for 30, it would realistically be 15-20. It certainly wouldn't be more than the base game!

Hey, I'm sorry for my english but I hope u can understand. It would be really nice if you have a coaster when there's for example 1 train.. and then there's another 2 tracks with 2 other trains and then when you click on something like this: "Load 2 trains'' that really another train is coming on the main track of the coaster. Not that u have to close the coaster and then select 2 trains and then open it again, but like in real that it really load another train.. it would be so cool Let me know what ya think?

Since RCT3P I've been wanting to do a Coney Island, with guests sunning themselves on the beach and swimming in the ocean. A good water expansion (coherent and well-flexicolored content, good underwater graphics, good underwater pathing, well-optimized and optional gameplay, doesn't break anything ) that does it and includes some appropriate new park skirts would get $30 from me easily, might go as high as $40.

Talk about moving the goal posts! In your post you were talking about things related to announcements by Frontier. Now all of a sudden it's about criticizing in general. I don't want to get into that fruitless debate so after this don't expect more replys on this topic from me. I don't agree with your premise that people are shouldn't criticize. Are we really back to "you can't say anything negative"? In any case I think this is what's killing threads. Look at OP, in that spirit most people are contributing in here. --- --- According to your logic Frontier can't make announcements because it will lead to speculation and complaints. But at the same time you're arguing people are speculating and complaining in this very thread, when there is nothing announced. So wouldn't that mean the two are unrelated?
